Addressing Behavioral Health Disparities: Tour F.A.C.E. of Boone County

Start date: February 16, 2018 - End date: April 29, 2018

We welcome all community members to enjoy a brief tour of the Family Access Center of Excellence (FACE) with a presentation and opportunity for Q&A to follow your tour. This experience is offered in three, 30-minute time slots weekly, each Friday (2/16 through 4/29). Click here for registration information. We can accommodate 8 community members per group.

How does this relate to the goals of your Journey Towards Inclusive Excellence? FACE staff will explain how community health needs assessment data showed disparities in behavioral health outcomes across demographic populations in our county. You will learn how our community responded and exactly how we work at FACE to effectively address barriers to access, in ways that are inclusive and empowering for all families with youth up to age 19 in Boone County experiencing social, emotional, or behavioral health concerns.

Discussion on the strength of racial/ethnic minority families in achieving educational and business success in Columbia, MO.

World Religion - Baha'i Faith

Date: March 1, 2018

Time: 7:00-9:00pm

Location: Hickman High School Media Center

George Frissell will present on this religious tradition, and a practitioner or scholar will be present to answer questions.

Unnatural Causes - When the Bough Breaks

Date: March 6, 2018

The second segment of the documentary, Unnatural Causes. This showing will look at how racism gets embedded in the body and affects health outcomes. Facilitated discussion will follow. Feel free to bring your lunch.

Cycle of Socialization

Explore how we are socialized into systems of oppression by messages from family, friends, institutions, media, and culture. This experience will be offering a stamp for the Matters of Social Justice: Journey Toward Inclusive Excellence passport. Space is limited to 30 participants.
